Data import is one of the most important steps in setting up your CRM. To make this process seamless and quick, it is crucial that we receive clean data that is ready for import. Below are some tips to ensure that we run into minimal issues.
Our system will only import data that is in a CSV file. Attached is a sample CSV to show you the fields that our system will map to. It is important for you to take a look at the fields that your list has and see if you can edit the titles to match the ones seen on the template. For some of the fields, we have predetermined inputs. The table below references the options that the system allows you to choose from. As you can see there are multiple options for “Category.” There is an option for you to create your own custom categories but that must be done by you in the system prior to import. The status must map directly to what we currently have within ZipperAgent. Please see some examples below:

When you export your contacts from your current system, it is helpful to delete any extraneous columns or information that is not needed and that you do not want imported into ZipperAgent. It will also make the process of mapping the data to our CSV format faster.
Here are some tips for cleaning the data:
- First and Last name cannot be merged, they need their own fields
- Spousal information has its own fields
- Make sure that phone numbers are in phone number fields (i.e. primary, mobile, fax, etc.) and emails are in correct email fields (we have three email field options)à we often see that when taking down a contact’s info quickly, it is placed in random fields.
- We have a few options for Phone and Email. If there are extra numbers or emails you want added, one option is to add them into the “Description” field.
- “Description” can be an alternative for “Notes”
Cleaning data for import is very important and will make the data we import more usable to you in ZipperAgent and will get you up and running quickly. If we receive bad data that requires manual clean up, there could be an extra cost incurred (we will reach out to you prior to discuss how to proceed and make suggestions for further clean up.
